We're looking for a best practice for how many faculty members you ask to evaluate a resident on a rotation. We are conflicted between asking one preceptor to complete all the evaluations despite the fact that the resident may have worked with other faculty in the group.
The down sides to asking each faculty member to evaluate each resident are:
1. Every faculty member may not have worked with every resident.
2. Our return rate drops if we have a bunch of outstanding evaluations that are never completed.
Thank you. -Lynn

I have seen this done many different ways.
1. Send evals to all possible faculty on that rotation
2. Send evals only to faculty who are on service with the resident
3. Faculty discuss resident at a section meeting and send eval to one faculty member who is responsible for doing the eval as a compilation/blended-voice for the faculty group
4. Let the resident choose the faculty they worked with in your RMS and the system generates the eval
Also, changing the frequency evals are sent to faculty can narrow or broaden the focus (as long as it still meets ACGME requirements.
I hope this helps!
