I currently have a PTD who would like to extend the training of a fellow for 6 weeks past the time he/she will finish their accredited training. We historically have not allowed extentions without a reason such as FMLA or a documented corrective action or remediation need. This extention would be to finish a research project that is NOT a part of their program requirements. Does anyone know if their is any rule against extending training of a fellow past the length of their program, as long as the program stays within their complement allowance and has the funding? (This is a fellowship in Pediatrics.)
