I am writing to introduce our new Transitional Year Residency Program in Riverside, California which is projected to start in July 2017. We anticipate ACGME accreditation by April 2, 2017 for 13 positions. Because of the timing of the accreditation, we will be looking to fill these positions outside the match for the first year. Our program will be located at Riverside Community Hospital (RCH). Our program will have the strong support of our medical school affiliate, the University of California Riverside School of Medicine, which brings strong, academically-focused faculty. RCH is the regional referral center for STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and trauma. The hospital recently had a major expansion with a beautiful new tower, which will increase the hospital from a 373 bed hospital to a 508 bed hospital. We offer a very flexible curriculum with a total of 4 blocks of elective which will allow the residents personalize the program to their educational needs. This flexibility will serve as a launching point for their medical career as they transition into an advanced categorical residency. They will have the opportunity to work alongside residents and faculty from the ACGME approved programs in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, OB/GYN, and Family Medicine. We anticipate approved programs in Neurology, General Surgery, Radiology, and Anesthesia in the near future. Please keep us in mind as you advise qualified students who may not have matched this year.
