Hello! I'm looking into changing the structure of our interviews this year and wanted to get some insight as to how other TY programs schedule interview days? Is it a group setting? Individual appointments? How long from start to finish is the candidate with you? Any information would be great! Thanks!! Jennifer | ||

Last year we started doing our interviews for this Program virtually via WebEx. We recognized the incredible expense and time commitment that the applicants go through just applying for their primary residency. The response was overwhelmingly positive from the applicants and they very much appreciated our consideration for their circumstances. Anyone who wanted to have an in person interview so that they could come and see the hospital and meet us in person was accommodated. Everyone except two applicants chose the WebEx experience. The interviews were individual appointments with the Program Director or Faculty member and the coordinator. We blocked off one hour per interview, but they typically last 30-45 minutes depending upon how many questions the applicant had. When we did strictly in-person interviews they had lunch with the current class of interns without the program director or coordinator present. This year to provide them with that type of experience we will add a WebEx session where they can interact directly with our current class of interns in addition to the individual interviews. -- Denise | ||

Have no idea what WebEx is...not able to ascertain much from their website either. Am thinking I have a general idea...A few more details, please. | ||

WebEx is internet based software for holding virtual meetings / video conferences and other events. Allows you to share your desktop and let others in the meeting do the same. Another one of our Programs uses Skype for interviews as well. -- Denise |
