The updated requirements note that residents who have been accepted in a categorical program which has specified curricular components for the PG-1 year must be provided with a curriculum which conforms to the respective specialty requirements.` Any thoughts on how to determine what these requirements may be? Do we need to be reviewing the green book? I assume they are referring to specialty specific and not unique individual institutional requirements. Thanks! |

I was just at the AHME meeting and this topic came up. Linda Thorsen said the TYRC would put together a document that summarized the requirements of all the categorical programs. |

We are interested in learning how /if other institutions develop a baseline level for monitoring the performance level of transitional year residents. Does your program administer in-service exams to TY residents? If so, do most programs use the internal medicine in-service exam? If exams are not utilized, are there other mechanisms used for this purpose? |

I am interested to find out if anyone has a policy or criteria for successful completion of a transitional year residency program, and if so, what do you do if a resident doesn't successfully complete the program? |

I'd like to know how do you keep track of transitional resident lecture/conference participation? |

Does anyone have a good exit survey or post-grad survey tool to monitor educational outcomes for Phase 3 of the ACGME competencies? Since we have no board exam scores, we'll need to gather data some other way. Thanks! |

For the TY curriculum/block schedule, do all fundamental clinical rotations in primary specialties have to be a continuous 4-week block, or does this only apply to the required emergency medicine rotation? |

Outside of emergency medicine there does not appear to be a prescribed length for an individual FCS rotation specified in the common, TY, IM, gensurg,OBGYN or FAM PRAC requirements. Most programs seem to use 4 week or 1 calendar month blocks though it appears not to be codified. Longer experiences are likely not to be an issue. Shorter experience would, under scrutiny, need to have appropriate justification/rationale. |
