The Council of Transitional Year Program Directors (CTYPD) would like input from Transitional Year Program Directors and Coordinators regarding topics and questions to be addressed by ACGME during the upcoming AHME Institute in San Diego. Transitional Year Programming will be May 14 and 15, 2015. Anne Gavel Sullivan, Executive Director of the Transitional Year and Anesthesia Residency Review Committees, has requested we reach out to membership for specific areas to cover in her TYRC update.

Also, the CTYPD is planning an email survey in the coming weeks and we are soliciting questions from our membership to include in this survey.

Daphne Norwood, MD MPH FACP
Chair, CTYPD

Questions for CTYPD: What will it take for the ACGME to realize that community-based programs do not have the same resources as university programs and that meeting the FCS criteria is difficult?

We are currently documenting admission and discharge diagnoses on our cardiology rotation in the hopes that this documentation will show that this is not merely a cardiology rotation but rather an FCS rotation. Will this information be something that the RRC will consider as evidence to refute the current ruling?
